Companies could reduce their outgoings considerably by making use of managed security solutions, an expert has suggested.
John Sawyer of DarkReading.com has claimed that savings are available for a variety of reasons, particularly as there are "little to no capital costs" in relation to equipment, as it is held at an external data centre.
He went on to outline that there are several benefits for companies which make use of the IT solutions.
"Content-filtering, including web and email, are two of the most common areas being outsourced and easy to evaluate," he explained in a column.
"Often a simple change in the user's systems, a router configuration change or MX record update can point users to the new service to evaluate the services' effectiveness."
Recent research published by Vanson Bourne, on behalf of Savvis, found that 73 per cent of IT decision makers would like firms they partner with to fully manage security.
