Managed security providers have been made aware of the latest malware threats.
Research carried out by BitDefender found that the line-up of most prevalent threats for April is dominated by Trojans, which occupy seven of the top ten positions.
The Trojan.AutorunINF.Gen occupies first place, with older adware trojans Wimad and Clicker taking up the third and second spots.
Sorin Dudea, head of BitDefender's antivirus lab, commented: "We can only hope the high detection rate is due to the fact that more people who were previously infected are now using effective antivirus protection."
However, he went on to say that managed IT security professionals should not discount the possibility that the malware is being replicated by a sizeable network of infected machines.
Earlier this month, commissioned by (ISC)2, Cisco and Government Futures suggested that managed network security must adapt to new online threats created by the ongoing economic downturn.
